Our Koffee Trail: Joffrey's at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Date of Visit: January 25, 2025

Location: Joffrey's at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Kissimmee, FL

I have long enjoyed trying the different featured coffee drinks at the various Joffrey's locations at Walt Disney World. They all seem to be cold drinks, so with it being only getting into the 50s our first day none of them seemed appealing. It was still in the 30s to start our second day, but the Animal Kingdom's featured drink was a latte that could also be done hot.

I really enjoyed the Savannah Banana Latte, which is like a banana split.

Our Koffee Trail: Coffee for the Soul

Date of Visit: January 24, 2025

Location: Coffee for the Soul, Celebration, FL

We had planned to try out at least one coffeeshop on the way down to Disney World for our annual family trip. Due to the snow and ice throughout South Carolina and most of Georgia, nothing was open. Because of the weather, though, we also ended up driving straight to Orlando and staying in a hotel near Disney World for the night before our DVC stay started instead of Georgia as originally planned. On our way to Disney in the morning, we decided to take a slight detour into Celebration to try out Coffee for the Soul.

Dad had the Farmer's Latte and I had the Pistachio Latte, which is my favorite seasonal at Starbucks, but this one was much better (below saying on their wall is definitely fitting).

Snow in Myrtle Beach

Not the first time we've seen snow in Myrtle Beach, but by far the most and longest lasting. Mik even wanted to go outside and get some pictures in the snow. Unfortunately, it was too dry to be able to make a snowman.

Our Koffee Trail: JoCo Coffee Co.

Date of Visit: December 26, 2024

Location: JoCo Coffee Co., Selma, NC

I considered finding another coffeeshop to stop at for our 2nd coffee on the way to D.C., but we really enjoyed this place in October and the convenience that it is right off the I-95.

Mom and Dad had the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I had the Gingerbread Latte.

Mini Golf Adventures: Ripley's Crazy Golf

Date of Visit: November 6, 2024

Location: Ripley's Crazy Golf, Myrtle Beach, SC

We went mini golfing for Nora's birthday. Originally, she had invited me saying we were going to Mt. Atlanticus, but she changed her mind and chose Ripley's Crazy Golf instead.

Ripley's Crazy Golf turned out to definitely live up to the crazy in its name with a variety of unique hole designs. Several of the holes are designed to resemble playing games such as Skee-Ball, Plink-O, billiards, and pinball. The most unique hole is Hole 16 with a swing that you can ride on to try to drop your ball in the hole as your first stroke on the hole. The hole that you have the ball go down a giant toilet is also fun.

As we rode the elevator after Hole 3, we noticed a sign that you could do the scoring on your phone, which we then switched to as we enjoyed when we did that at City Mini Golf in Chicago.

Overall we had a lot of fun playing Ripley's Crazy Golf. Definitely a course we would play again, but only in the off season like this could easily get too crowded and slow. Only complaint is that they accidentally rung us up for the Mirror Maze instead of Mini Golf, which meant the ticket did not let us go through the Mini Golf turnstile and we had to wait about 10 minutes for the manager to come fix the problem (and pay the few dollar difference due to their mistake...).

Ranger Dan: 14.3 Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

Date of Visit: October 12. 2024

On my walk around the Tidal Basin, I ended up spending some extra time at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial because the bookstore opened later than I thought and I wanted the National Park stamps from there. To kill time, I did a sketch.

Ranger Dan: 13.11 National Mall and Memorial Parks

Date of Visit: October 12. 2024

As I had a late afternoon flight home, I spent the morning walking around the Tidal Basin and National Mall collecting a few of the National Park stamps I did not have or at least had not gotten in a few years. I mainly wanted to visit the US Park Police Horse Stables as I had never been other than we had saw it when we were walking the Mall the previous weekend after it had closed for the day. I also visited the Japanese Pagoda and Floral Library part of the National Mall and Memorial Parks.
